Bluff Road Estate Adult Art Group Brief – Tuesday afternoons 12-2
Ongoing supportive art sessions for residents in the Bluff Road Estates community space. This is an opportunity for residents to learn new creative skills with a variety of art materials whilst meeting others with similar interests. They can express themselves creatively in a safe and supported space, have fun, be inspired and feel proud of their achievements. Being creative and making art contributes to residents social and personal health and wellbeing.
Each week there is a pre-planned art activity with a supply of the appropriate art materials. We will talk about the materials, techniques and applications allowing for self – exploration noting that outcomes are not always important but process can also be valued. I intend to gain some knowledge on resident’s skill levels, interests and expectations. They will be supported throughout each session with the understanding that creating and engaging with art forms can trigger emotional responses which can leave participants feeling vulnerable. All participants will be grounded and feeling safe before they leave the community space.
If residents want to pursue ongoing creative interests I will endeavour to encourage this and offer information on possible future community links. Artworks will be displayed around the inside of the community space. All materials are supplied.
