‘Connecting Voices’
Celebrating the opening of Connect Health and Community facility in Bayside with the CCD art project, ‘Connecting Voices’.
On Thursday November 23, 2017, members of the Connect community were invited to answer the question: ‘What does a connected community mean to you?’ The answers to this question have been woven into this beautiful artwork. Some answers
include:
“Providing a supportive, friendly service to one and all… We all come together as one… Listening, respect, collaboration, meaning….. Everyone is a family member with love and blessings….. Support one another….. When you connect with people you make the world happy…. A healthy community is a strong community…..Access for everyone! … Committed and engaged…. Caring for others….Companionship, the pleasure of helping….Happiness and
Friendship…..Family, Good health…Knowing how / where to make health and wellbeing enquiries…Collective collaboration, love, trust, tolerance, flexibility, diversity, compassion.”
Artwork
The textile artwork is called ‘Connecting Voices’ as it is a collective representation of the voices of Connect Health and Community, which are woven into the artwork. The values of Connect Health &Community underpin their policies, procedures and practice, they include: Respect, Accountability, Responsiveness and Collaboration. These values are represented symbolically through the colours; Ocean Blue, Sky Blue, Gold, Maroon, Cerise, Kelly and Forest Green and Teal, which appear in the warp of the artwork. The interlocking circular shapes woven into the artwork represent the many diverse community groups linked into the Connect Health and Community’s network. The woven feature outside of the main area represents the supportive net offered by Connect Health and Community, and the flowing organic shape of the frame to its logo.
